stand back and admire me
it's not too late to make a change
the better in you had got the best of me
and i can't help but let you see
i'm not going to change my mind
and walk away

it's not my fault we're in this situation
if i could change our lives i'd do it in an instant
but god knows me well and god doesn't care for the world
if you and i are ever in the same room again.

i down the bottle and dream for tomorrow
hoping to wake up on the better side of the bed
one where my son will be willing to visit
one where the woman of my life isn't quite dead
one where you and I are together again
one where I can stand to use my own two hands
change our lives and future this instant
change for the better and wake up without incident

a fear of the unknown leads me to see
it's not you i need to fear
but the god who knows me too well.
