The Reason's Walking Out the Door

feeling like pulling my hair out
in the nest you made
and cut right out
the circle's round and empty
but you dreamt otherwise
one time

it's tickling my neck
it's testing my patience
it's rubbing me the wrong way
the way you walk and never stay
sit right down
sip some tea
and speak to me
in your voice

what's left when the one person you stayed for is gone?
what's there possibly to remain for when everything you loved, is lost?
contemplate the obvious
procrastinate the reactionary
may be inebriated for days
considering my ultimate decision
it's boiling the innards of my heart
to think

I'm back where I had to start
I tried to be a better me
In the end I looked like the rest of them.

    Oh, Kay

    I’ll stay
I’ll concede to the truth that I need you nearby
this physical distance is difficult, but I’ll make do
    just please,
don’t rip my heart out by hiding your face too
