Hello, everyone (I realize now I posted this in the wrong forums a couple of weeks ago). My best friend and I wrote, recorded, mixed and hired a pro to master our 86-minute concept double-disc. It took three-and-a-half years to do the recording-through-mastering part. I'm relieved it's finished, and I'd like it if fellow jammers would check out some snippets and relay what they think. The Web site is http://www.chameleonalien.com.
The record follows the life of the character over a fair amount of time. The music cannot be lumped into a single genre. Electric-driven, acoustic-tinged, strings-guided and a pair of beats-oriented songs make up the landscape of Chameleon Alien's "Summer Soulstice." We would need an army of 11, I think, to play the third sequence of the album's closer.
I have spent more than 3,000 hours and as many dollars in the past few years working on this beast. I hope to recoup a portion of that investment through sales.
I believe we have a few gems here. I owe a lot to my friend, The Fonz, who was patient enough to see through this (largely my) record, giving up going out on weekends for a long time. Another friend played some Gilmour-esque solos on the last two tracks, and an opera-singer-in-training shared her gorgeous pipes in background mode on a 10-minute track and for a few lines of another song.
Well, happy listening.
