I like to write occasionally and I have been more so tean not, as of late. I would like some feedback on this... Any consructive (good/bad) comments are welcome:

Cupid's Demise

I want cupid dead
He shoots people’s hearts,
And I want his head.
He thinks he can come by
And leave me like a one nightstand.
Impregnated by the power of love.
With nothing at fault by the power of his hand
Your arrow does not always hit directly into the heart,
Nor is it true that this arrow will make the strongest of lovers between two.
For sometimes, Oh sweet Cupid, you do not heed one heart while you let the arrowed one bleed.
So is born a tortured heart and a soul of despair.
Life is incomplete. Empty without existence.
But Cupid you do not run my life and you do not have a say.
I will pick myself up again and start a anew.
So the next time you come around,
Save your arrows and shoot yourself in the head!
Oh sweet Cupid life would be so much better if you were dead!

Why did lady Godiva create chocolate?
    Because she got depressed when
    Cupid aimed and missed...

    different color!!
  • This poem made me think of two things:

    1. the song "I'm the Man Who Murdered Love" by XTC

    2. the song "Sleepwalker" by the Wallflowers (for the line, "cupid don't draw back your bow, 'cause Sam Cooke didn't know what I know").

I do enjoy a piece that expresses anger at something ethereal.

Thanks for the feedback... I tried to find the XTC song on a "file sharing" program but I came up short. As of recently I have been editing the poem to create a better flow...
