candy store

Sometimes I wonder when the day will come that I have decided who I am, where I am going, what I will make of this life-long trip. I feel like a child in a candy store where every piece of candy is only five cents, the smell is sweet and over powering. It spreads a smile over my face. I reach into my pocket to discover I only have a nickel. The possibilities are endless standing there, but I know that I can only taste one adventure, so I stand in front of the counter with my nickel held fast in my fist, and the cashier (God?) asks me, "What will it be, son?"
I'm standing in the aisles smelling all the possibilities of adventure, but I have yet to buy on single piece of candy. To make that decision scares me, to know that I can not have any other piece of candy seems like the greatest sin of all. Yet, there is a yearning to make that decision. To make the most of it, instead of blocking the aisles for other people who know what they want.
"So what will it be son?"
"Can I have a few more minutes? You can wait on someone else"
He frowns, and moves on to the next customer, who happens to have fifty cents. She spends it all on one kind of candy (cherry licorice). I wonder how she must really like licorice. Or she is too scared to try anything else. Ignoring the possibilities that await her taste buds. Afraid that she will not like her choice, and her parents will ask her why she chose something she did not like, explaining that it is dumb to waste money like that.

But luckily sometimes when you're standing all dazzled up in the candy store with your coin, a friend walks by. Or a relative or just a nice person. Walks by and asks, do you have enough money? Here, I'll give you this dollar so you'll have more changes.
That's what I think.
That's too bad he cheated on her and ended up going back. It is interesting how we like to comeback to our favorites. Be it a significant other, or job, or things like that. This piece of writing is about finding a relationship, but I notice in life it is the same. eMMi, I wish a friend would stop by and loan me a dollar (big smile), there are things I would love to do in this life, but it seems I only have this nickel. Thanks for reading and taking the time to respond.

Now, you just gotta find some way to make that nickel turn into a dime.
