I care about you,
whoever you are.
I want you to feel special.
I want you to know that you are.
I want to throw you surprise parties
and hand-make gifts for you.
I want to go out of my way for you
and make you feel worth it.
I want to give you a stupid nickname
and share private jokes with you.
I want to worry about you
and feel so relieved to know you're okay.
I want to call you just to say hi
and listen to you breathe.
I want to single you out in a crowd
and give you my undivided attention.
I want to give you compliments
and notice when you change your hair.
I want to support your bad decisions
and give you my best advice.
I want to share a bottle of wine with you
and tell drunken dirty secrets.
I want to miss you when you're gone
and get excited when you return.
I want you to feel special.
Because you are.
And I want to treat you the way
I yearn to be treated.

    i love this.

    can best friends be hot for each other too?it seems like it.

    that kind of love is better than any romantic shit i've ever seen.it's real.

    I'm so glad it made you smile. Ironically, it makes me sad, but that's what's so great about these things. Everyone has their own interpretation. Thank you for sharing yours.

    Stricking that you should end on this... makes you wanna think. Why do you give to someone? Out of unconditional love? Or out of the desire of wanting something back?

    mostly
    except from a dog, i hear...
    and well, i'm not a "dog" person

    but this is how we in fact get to love unconditionally...


    it's not in my past to presume, love can keep on moving in both directions, how to be happy and true... the quest we take on TOGETHER

    Personally, I've always been a big fan of the concept of the Golden Rule. However, I always end up feeling used. Every line of this poem reflects things I've actually done for other people, but no one's ever done for me. And I'm not nice to people simply hoping to reap some sort of reward, I do it because I want to, but it would be nice to feel special to someone else every now and then.

    Oh, wah. Listen to me. I'm getting on my own nerves. I really just wanted to drop a quick note to say thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts with me. It means a lot. :)

    set your sight on the goal, and don't give up....
    the golden rule is a GOOD one to hold to
    sure... you'll get used, and get smarter about your choices
    and eventually find perhaps the Golden rule is really better with a little tarnish on it.... LOL :)

    I think everyone is essentially looking for the same thing....love, respect and compassion. For I am too seeking that which hasn't been found...and finding that which is undesirable.
