Quite clearly the wide-eyed doe in the one-out headlight
trusts
trucks love her.
How honest, she?
How lovely?
Quite clearly the doe in the headlights has life.
Instinct leaking for buck.
Protection.
Trucks
Deflection
A spirit floating in the air to see what life became.

    i heart pasta nazi
    You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
    To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
    ----
    Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame

    i sped along k 10,
way past bedtime, way past time,
a thousand stars in a clear kansas sky,
    were witness and no less
was my eagerness to go home.

    sudden was existence
    of the doe
    in windshield she did spurt
    the clearest
yes, vitrous humour splashed across the lighted view.

i called the hypo when i was home,
    declined the road kill,
reclined as a tired man will,
    remembering to this day,
the sadness of the passing of the doe.

    hello rachel!
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

she was a little pug-faced dog called daisy
I was going swimming....the nearby pool was closed
last sunday....my first swimming day of winter....
I had to walk to the aquatic centre....
next to the house I'd viewed on Friday
(hoping to get a garden for my lost dog)....
she was a little pug-faced dog called daisy

I rounded the corner on Woniora road,
after debating jaywalking and weighing the
benefits of being on the left or right side of the road....
the left won, and I crossed lamenting the lack of lights..
I steeled myself for the long walk up the
winding hill.....my knapsack bouncing on my back lightly
she was a pug-faced puppy called daisy
with a bright pink, heart tag, collar....

I saw her at the lights, her Chinese owner
had her unleashed.....and then like a ghost
she started crossing in front of the oncoming traffic....
I was stunned.....why didn't the guy stop her....
it happened so slowly.....a big four-wheel drive
ran over her, and my heart stopped beating
she tumbled like a judo wrestler thrown
and jumped up onto her fours again

some saintly boys were across the road
whistling and clicking to her....she looked drunk.....
as soon as I could, I reached the group of bystanders and
daisy, the pug-faced puppy with buggy eyes
(hair the colour of my carpet and its stains).....
'he was smiling - did you see his face?'
one boy said, as they knelt down to minister
    to the brave, frightened.....bug-eyed dog....

I took her home - they were going somewhere....
a few hours later, I got through to the number on her
collar, after she had thoroughly inspected and approved
of my apartment, and when she was treating me like her saviour,
I got through to Monica, and hoped my disapproval
came out in my tone of voice.....
she was a bug-eyed puppy called daisy
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

    hey hey, Miss Enlightened! :)

ISN: way cute story... like a folk song, too. I liked the part where the boys asked the dog if she'd seen the driver's face. Nice. I like the tags :) thanks
