i gotta get in the garage
and play my guitar
and write these whipped-cream, heart-rent songs
i gotta get back to my TKD
and kick the teacher's ass, again
that first punch in his face eludes me
i gotta climb inside my lover's mouth
connect with teeth and gum
a quarter inch headphone jack
into love, cuz i went there last night
and it made me cry because he loves me
and I am fading out again
i gotta split myself in three's or four's
and get one of these eight feet inside a festival's door
and cut the grass
and clean the house
forgive JB
make him forgive me
and I should probably oughta go and see
a doctor, because I don't generally get heartburn

hitch a ride
being on the inside
soul withered and died
i gotta rip this skin
ignore the din
rain? wash this sin
i don't wanna be in
i gotta find a way
see what i say?
to walk away
to smile today
"not fade away"
love you
thet remind me of two Natasha La Bel poems, which might just be my second favorite of all time in the why do I want to write poetry category -- to do it like that -- there's one called boxing the female (i think) and another called Foot Fire Burn Stomp (i think) -- they are just blow it all up poems!
(i'm not even sure if that's her name, and if anybody knows where more of her poetry can be found, I for one would smile at you.)
or you two could just keep turning out ones like these:
"whipped-cream, heart-rent songs"
that is a perfect image of a song I'd like to hear.
i ran a search on yer girl, and came up snake eyes... actually got booted :(
glad you liked
thanks, again
it's funny that you should say that, funny interesting, not haha, but I didn't give you the correct name. I found the poems and it's Le Bel not La Bel. so . . . and I screwed up the title of my favorite one. I jumbled it up with the first line in my head: "I do the black boot stomp" is the first line of "Foot Fire Burn Dance"
but these poems were published about ten years ago in Hanging Loose and then again in Best American Poets, blah, blah (the one edited by Adrienne Rich is awesome!), which means there should be more of her stuff out there somewhere by now, and I can't find it, which is a real shame because it's very good.
and so are yours.
