the lie in the vase on the shelf

there's a lie in the vase on the shelf
the vase is a scared boy
most likely dropped once or twice
for doing what he does (sometimes)
and put back together, ever mindful
of the cracks... unable to forget
the sound of shatter

shatter, clatter, endless crap
rest in peace up on the shelf
i'll keep screwed into the wall

i know what it's like to fall

I really like this one, the meaning behind it and the visual I got reading it, good one
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!

I like the way you wrote this yet I can't help but feel sad for the broken vase.

I'm sure he didn't want to get broken in the first place!!

I'm scared of heights myself, and I can tell you it doesn't do you any good to be all the way up there

hey justam & jamal... thanks for responding!

i totally dig where both y'all are comin' from. this guy i just started dating concocted this whole story to cover up something that really wasn't any of my business in the first place. and it's kinda wierd, because both of your responses are contained in my own. i see why he did it, so i'm not mad or anything... in fact, i'm quite sympathetic. but. i appreciate the fearlessness honest people exude. but since 'most everyone lies because they're afraid of getting yelled at, or they're afraid it'll hurt someone's feelings, or they're afraid so and so won't like them ~ blah de blah blah.... i'm thinking i'm going to be alone for a while, lol...

ah well... we'll see what he says when i tell him i know 8)

    so...

did you meet this guy in missouri? if so, run.. FAST!! :D
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

I like because it gives such a good visual...alongside the emotions.

No, not yet. Unless it was a huge thing that was lied about. If you both can talk this out, then see what happens after.....hopefully nothing but laughter....I'd say give him another chance.

    After that.....fuck him.

Oops, can I say that? Oh well....too late.

umm... i was thinking to do that first

no no no, in all seriousness. what he CONTRIVED was really about something he should've said, "baby, i'll be outta pocket for 10 days, i'll holler at you when i get back." and if i wasn't so stupidly dorkish, i wouldn't have found out about it at all.

    so.

kinda bites that we have to have such a downer type talk so early on. but I'd be lying if I let him carry on with the lie... and I'd lose respect each time it was brought up. so wish me luck. I hope we're just laughing about it too, cuz i'm not mad, and i'm not offended. I'm even a little intimidated by being so consciously presented with an opportunity to weigh this man's salt (as it were).

    Deep breaths all around....

Thanks to all y'all for responding :)

girlfriend... they're little pointy-toed, brown, one inch heels with a buckle over the top.... gawd, they're fly :)

not as fly as the black ones with the strap over the arch and the three inch heels, or the brown three-inchers with the ankle cuffs

however, i suppose you could say they're sensibly fly...
    cute as hell

boy drama ain't got nothing on these shoes ;)

I like the shoes with the little straps across the arch too. I bought a couple pairs for work this week. They kinda remind me of shoes from the 40's. :)

    Good poem, Pasta! :):)

Oooo, shoozies!!!!! I got these killer black heels with a strap on the back and about a 3 inch heel--they're satiny and have this strap, just behind the toes, across the foot with sweet little shiny studs on 'em. :D I love those shoes!
