the sum of tomorrow part1

Monday, south of a city, missing the idea of california
collecting the poetry of the week
the bed and your here-I-am-waiting-for-you glance
done up in the corner of the room. I look out
the ocean, godless, forged by wave over wave
endless like spring's new popping green.
Every dumped thought spills from my back
it's only the day I have to lose
the sky returns, patted pink rose-turned and sputtering.
I have not given up on a cause for harmony
even easydreams and soft singing
the actors of my dreams
no one has drummed up the eye curved beauty.
Let's pull the sun down like a hotel windowshade
pillow our hearts, eyes into and out
there's a sad history laying before tomorrow
sickly crowned the herald, this king sleeps sometime later.

This is one of those pieces where if I had a time machine, I'd copy it, go back in time, and paste it on this message board first because I wish I'd written it.
Although, I'd have titled it something pretentiously clever yet actually stupid like "the sum after tomorrow: starring jake gyllenhall." Then, I'd follow it up by making a film interpretation of it and casting the ghost of Heath Ledger to play Jake's dead ghastly lover. Yeah, I'm all about Hollywood, motherfuckers.
This is an excellent piece, though.
This one talks about softness and it feels that way too.
