a children's story for teenage feelings

i told her i wanted to tell a story,
so we sat there and both listened.

there used to live a boy, lost in the ocean
the people around confused him
and he had no idea where he was going
or even where he wished to go

there once was a girl, confident and dancing
she for some reason held a drainpipe
and stole the water of the ocean
that he nearly drowned in day by day

and so once ashore, his chest could be seen
his skin was no longer visible, it had washed away
she blindly reached in through his ribcage,
once she found the master organ
she never let go
she squeezed so hard the blood could barely flow
but he realized if he died, with his heart in her hands
he never would have known such gratefulness
