It recently came to my attention that i seem to only write about girls, sadness and all. So I decided to give this a shot. it's probably not my strongest work, but it was nice to mix it up a little bit.
the old man sits himself on the bench at the park
a mile from where he played as a youngster
he realizes that when he was once that boy
he watched an old man sit on that very bench
but he never imagined or understood
that one day he would emulate that stranger
he sits upright and tall, lonely and and small
he wished he could leave on a plane
and sit in another bench in some other park
far away from his past and his childhood
he hadnt imagined that this age
and condition even existed
he struggled, he would admit that
but no one knew the worst of it all
his mind was slowly creeping out of its cave
for 50 years it had been gaining its strength back
from the "mistakes" he made earlier
and as he thought of all this
he looked up to notice the kids
still playing with their ball
kicking around their innocence
like it meant nothing to them
he knew they knew nothing
and that to them, he
was a sorcerer, a magician
he stands.
walks over to their game.
they all stop and stare.
in awe and amazement
mixed with confusion
he speaks to them.
he says "enjoy"
and it means the world to him
he has told them his secret.
he leaves.
they continue their old game
with not the slightest bit
of comprehension for this
priceless piece of advice
they will know however
someday, long after he is gone
and they will sit on that cold, lonely bench, just as he had.
