On our first date
we walked to an abandoned factory,
on the sadder part of town,
complete with broken poles
and wood, haunted by termites,
lost from its destined frame.
The dust so thick you can barely sustain breath
the kind that lighthouse lights don't penetrate
and the stench bruised our noise on impact.
The benevolent walls, dedicated to their purpose
now stand, forlorned in retirement.
The floors, lost in old age,
with a mind that has already escaped,
forget not to creek as we tiptoe across.
A noise of eternal pressure.
That awful stench of disappoinment
attached to our brand name jeans,
and the feeling of confusion,
clipped itself, like lint, to our jackets.
But as we wondered through this world of nothing,
sidestepping nails in the floor
and our sordid pasts.
With our fingers interlocked,
destrucition
failed capitalism
and a thousand pounds of workers sweat
instilled in the air,
we built that monument of momental perfection.
