i write poetry now
when i walk and my words beat
like my steps and arm's swings

and dream in the voice of Orson Welles
telling my story with excitement
and the world stopping
and you stopping
asking he whispers
about the time i watched the sun rise
when i was six and wondered when
i could touch that color

coming down back into this street
the one that looks like that other one
and girls are passing me by batting
eyes and smiles and i think about
each of them asking me questions
in soft accents and how sometimes
at night when i hear the midwest
trains and i want to sit up
and shut my eyes to them
and the world and that color
i cant stop a daydream about
