Confessions of a Dreaming Revolutionist

In some other life
perhaps, I shall travel
Europe and the arctic,
spend my later
days among myths
legends
and old sea captains.
figure out
the lost mysteries
of our forgotten past.

When I settle
back into my grooves,
I shall be
a janitor
spending
my nine to five
cleaning Blake's
Door of Perception.

I'll scrub and wash
and scratch
off blots
until maybe my windex
runs out.
Each time I'll dip
my mop into
the puddle of water
it will
spill out
dirtying the floor
and leave me
with another day's work

But someday,
though not soon,
that door
will sparkle so
all can see through
and finally understand
all
as it is.

I find your work very readable. You have a confident voice with a benign remove from the messianic compulsion that mars much poetic discourse. Good work.

I like this. It is smooth and I envisioned it easily. Good read!
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,

It sneaks up on you without beating you over the head - I agree completely
  • Excellent! Very human. :)

I too enjoyed reading this one. Nicely written.
  • thank you all. i have had somewhat of a major paradigm shift in terms of poetry . i am only 17 and it wasn't until this year i learned i could write about other things besides what would be classified as "teenage angst" and that i could do it halfway decently. (not to toot my own horn). but thanks guys. i really am proud of this one.
