Painted as a victim of guilt
a breach of trust
and suddenly the walls that were built
come crumbling down
and all that existed is now killed.

The smile, so therapeutic
I see it every day
and now I must refuse it.
Though i miss it so bad,
I must maintain, before I lose it.

Have I come to expect too much?
Do I love and feel,
so much, that everything I try to touch
may be out of reach
and way beyond real?

If I lower my standards
and be like the rest,
I can never be me,
so I might as well die,
like all of the rest.

I strive for perfection
in a life and a world
thats full of deception.
I have long lost the thrill,
can you feel my isolation?

I'll remain disconnected,
till the day I find my peace.
If I accomplish this feat,
and I can rest at ease,
how will I be affected?

Well, to those who I love most
I can't help to feel how I do.
I will never change,
no matter what the cost,
even if it means
I will always be lost.

I must admit, that was very nice. I liked it a lot.
there were so many bits I could relate to. it's very well written too, poetic brilliance.
I particularly enjoyed the stanza -
"Have I come to expect too much?
Do I love and feel,
so much, that everything I try to touch
may be out of reach
and way beyond real?"
