Wear and Tear

Under false pretenses
that I made myself believe,
I wore away my senses,
and let you saunter in.

Being my awareness
a weary warden with a pellet gun,
you step into my warren,
Unchallenged, free and undenied.

Entangled in your trifles.
Distracted by your glare,
I gave in my ambitions,
And let you glaze my stare.

Now, knowing that I stagger,
you stand in future's stead,
and with endearing shimmer,
you blind my sight and fade.
"The joke in your language won't come out the same" (Tom Petty)
I'm no dude! Dudette!
