I'm sorry

I remember the future,
as the present takes it's turn.
There's no meaning in believing,
When your eyes fight to be closed.
As I struggle not to hurt you,
More than my smile already did.
How can I give up your love,
When you're all I need to have.
How do I manage to love you enough
To let my heart go to sleep so you can smile.
How can our love be what we need the most,
And at the same time, what will kill our souls?
How can life be this unfair,
How can we be so out of luck?.
I'm sorry, tell her I am,
For your eyes won't shine when you go back.
And she will try to make you smile,
But you will feel she's lost her charm.
I'm sorry, I swear, I am,
For I know you won't find in her what used to be all.
I'm sorry, you know I am.
I'm sorry, it's sad, but we'll be fine.
