Blood Magick, Magick Blood
Santeria mixed in mud
Drink it, Drink it down
What?
Clot?
Uh, oh it's magick
Ain't it tragic,
The Kingdom of man is drowning in the sewers
Our hearts on a stake; steak on skewers
Blood, sugar, red kool-aid
Magick blood in my veins
Red Rum, red rain
Take it! Take it from my neck, from my wrist
Beat my eggs with a wisp
Huh?
What?
Not me.
Santeria mixed in mud
Drink it, Drink it down
What?
Clot?
Uh, oh it's magick
Ain't it tragic,
The Kingdom of man is drowning in the sewers
Our hearts on a stake; steak on skewers
Blood, sugar, red kool-aid
Magick blood in my veins
Red Rum, red rain
Take it! Take it from my neck, from my wrist
Beat my eggs with a wisp
Huh?
What?
Not me.
I'm the only Hell Mama ever raised.

don't know the eggs reference.
But the pagan gods that be are impressed that you can spell magick in the old school way.
i'm like carrie in that flick
standing drenched in blood sugar
baby
so it might stick
she's magic
sex magic
and they
are all
going to laugh at me
a moulting soft-shelled crab
crawling up cut-glass reef...
...one slip and i'm shrimp
my new porcelain skin
tucked neatly away
in some back pocket
and sat on
i am not a child with an ugly prize
i'm a moulting soft-shelled crab
deep fried and served up hot
and everyone who thinks me food
and thinks it's good
finds my mercury
content to let them die
let them try
to swim these seas
i leave
what then
would they believe?
OK I see where you would think I referenced Sublime & Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but I don't see the rest.
There is no other way to spell Magick when you're refering to anything other than performance or street magic. But thanks anyway.
I would have gone all Stephen King on your red rum as well but, well, that's actually older than he is so no worries there. I had fun spotting what were unintended references, but there were so many that I couldn't help but think at first that this was a pome built on song.
Also, let's be clear on the roots of the word "magicK."
Currently there are no historical terms that include the letter K at the end of the word. Not even the elder Wicca and Pagan texts contain this until recently, due to the modern freedom movement and perhaps to distance themselves from their religious competitors further by showing how far they've come since the Aquarian age. In a sense, it has become quite trendy to spell magic with a K after the C, though it is entirely unnecessary. One thing: if you have a K there, it is literally impossible to derive the word magician from this. You would be dropping an entire culture from the word, as K is usually germanic in our version of modern english...
Magique is a middle english term which came from middle french which in turn was derived from Latin, magice, which went further back and resulted from magike and magikos. Go way way way back and you'll see the term magos or magus (the latter which survives today), the former being of Iranian origin and the latter being of Old Persia. A quick trip to the etymology guides will help as well as any good dictionary worth it's weight in salt. Magick, as a modern term, is now being accepted as a modern spelling of a word that has been around a long time, though not by all sources.
I didn't mean any offense, but apparently it was taken personally. I have had a lot of experience with the pagan clans, most specifically those who practice the Wicca art and of them the purists will tell you that it is still spelled with a C... and that they would prefer to keep it within, thank you very much. Also, any Wiccan would spit to be referred to in the same sentence as Santeria, a practice they find generally repulsive.
I respect your pome a great deal, don't get me wrong, it just seems a little contradictory is all. God, I have tons of those in my thread.
I appreciate the old world influence. I hope to see more. I shall bother you no more.
