quicksand

more than "tired"
the dancer's grown weary
can't see clearly
can only hear
the same repetitive beat
the same redundancy

study the past
see it's shoulder turn again
cue the music
pretty
silent

mistakes acknowledged yet repeated
still can't leave it
still feels it
but can no longer feed it

gives ground
gives care
gets nothing
gives up

  • imagine the originator of that repetitive beat
the redundancy might be there for a reason
maybe its out of her control
her wariness blinding her to all else
    nothing has changed
she's still trying to gain balance
still trying to get herself back
and she's still as mixed up as ever
    You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
    To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
    ----
    Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame
  • thank you for that perspective.

but still, there's only so much dancing that one can do.

i suppose the key is to find some kind of middle ground. but both parties have to be looking for it. and both have to be willing to stay there awhile.
