Sleep

Celestial patterns through shut eyes
Brain not damaged, just a state of mind
Taking in air, and giving it back
Cold night poised, on the attack
Ticking silent
Tick Tick Tick
Unaware of its cruel trick
Body stiffened from pierced ears
Rolling over, not wanting to hear
Slumber runs off
Stares grow numb
Soon, very soon, once again we'll succumb

  • For some reason I'm picturing this guy, lying on his bed, covers tightly around him. He's staring off into space thinking these thougts and it's dark and he feels cold and he can't sleep because he's thinking these thoughts.
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
