Kiss to Forget

Kisses are for love.

I made up that rule, remember?
Like the one that kept me safe from werewolves
As long as I stayed under my covers

They are pulled back gently
Every breath sounds too loud
And unpleasantly moist
I don’t want to hear it
But I want to know what it will feel like
Sometimes

I am haunted by the whisper of my name in the dark
It sends chills like the fan
As it rotates, and hums
A blind witness
To the remnants of my innocence

Attention is paid to me
And in stillness I accept this tenderness

Why did I have to choose?
I would erase so much to start over
Clean
To receive a new first impression
Of touch and skin and kisses

But the infection thrives
In my stubborn oblivion
I still wake at the slightest sound
And I forget to kiss

Why can’t I kiss to forget?

Wow, Jaidra, you've certainly got some stuff to work through, don't you? All of your poetry seems to delve way down...
Underneath this smile lies everything...How I choose to feel, is how I AM!

  • wow heavy stuff there but very well done! :)
    The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?
