Duyen*

(for L.)

Orange peels,
rose buds,
cherries,
the willow
bends to
the sun.

Cinnamon sticks,
lily seeds,
licorice,
the pine
rises to
the moon.

Temple drum,
red dust,
duyen-
life: borrows,
death repays,
inevitable destiny.

    Orange
    is of course
    the word
    each poet
    is compelled
    to apply
    creatively
    since there
    is no English rhyme
    (I would say
    there is
    no English
    reason, either,
    but that
    would reflect
    my blo-oo-dy
    Highland heritage, harumph,
    har har),
    and oranges
    have some
    special significance
    of course
    for my
    lover & best friend,
    and her
    best friend :):),
    and herein
    lies intense
    brightly colored
    symbology in
    Viet zen--
    duyen-- reflective
    feminine mystery,
    fragranty sweet,
    flavorful, fresh
    rish & juizzy,
    aye: Orange!!

    What a Beauty!

  • You wouldn't think dis greeny Irish fella here would find all his love in orange!

But, then, I'm sure it has something to do with all those trippy trippy days in my twenties......learning the colours, only to to sense their meaning now, in a love:)

& I be from clan Hamilton
& my gurl be clan MacGregor,
and we gonna come over visit someday,
see the fam castle & jewels & stuff,
and I really had a gas
in the Boston Fine Arts Museum
where they had hauled over my
    clan's dining room
piece by piece and reassembled it.

    I felt right at home,
and I still am not sure
    why the guards wouldn't let
me sit & eat me snack in peace,
must have been English or somethin' :)

& we just love our Highland Grog, m'lady & I/

    thanks for the read

    Bigger the love
    greater the fall
It was a dream, not a nightmare. A beautiful dream I could never imagined in a thousand nods. I saw this girl next to me, she wasn't beautiful until she smiled. And I felt that smile come at me in heat waves following. Soaking through my body and out my finger tips in shafts of color. And I knew somewhere in the world, somewhere, that there was love for me.

Plenty of Campbells in my dad's home village of Ballycroy, County Mayo...if your folks are from nearby...we might even be related! :)
