On Hearing Clayton Eshleman
Reading With Bei Dhao

Poetry of
Liberation, Songs
and voices
of freedom,
like echoes
of the
sky out
an open
window, the
agony of
the oppressed,
atrocities of
the oppressors,
the crying
out of
those doomed,
songs of
ascendancy, free-
dom arising
from the
dark, the
joy of
the dead,
in liberation
from pain
of living,
we sing
their songs
of memory,
and dream
of our
own liberation,
as if
these words
could set
us free
like those
who have
fallen, yet:
do these
songs free
us, or
mark paths
for those
that follow,
to liberate
themselves?
The soul
soaring amongst
the sleeping
stars, as
if words
could set
us free
from all
earth’s gravity,
which pulls
us ever
deep into
the dark,
the pit
of angry
rebellion in
the night,
the solemnity
of spirit,
the March
of time
(Ides await?),
an upward
spiral, the
climb to
high mtn.
pass in
changing days
of Spring
to come,
destiny in
the abyss
ahead, our
liberation awaits
the sun,
the moon,
the flowers
on the
other side.

It is
easy to
understand now
why some
men and
governments
are afraid
of these
beautiful thoughts.

The poetry
of Liberation.

    Fear Power
    Is
    The Shade
    Over
    The Eyes
    That
    Never
    Really
    Wanted
    To See

    It's a damn shame!
Good read phish, real good! :)
