Nestled on a seaside sand dune
the soft windy sunset and then,
night coming in across black-glossed
gentle waves, the phosphorescence
of foam play, the tall sparse
grass tufts
somewhere, a trace of a moon
a distant ship
and the giant star, our star
the star of the sea
Jupiter, glittery
as
a diamondy gold-sugared
gum drop
the confections
of the universe unfolding
deliciously, deliriously
and how grateful, how
wonderful,
to have evolved this far
through the crisscrossing
of stars, pains and dreams
to have arrived
at this perfect moment
of pollywogs and papillons
the soft windy sunset and then,
night coming in across black-glossed
gentle waves, the phosphorescence
of foam play, the tall sparse
grass tufts
somewhere, a trace of a moon
a distant ship
and the giant star, our star
the star of the sea

of the universe unfolding
deliciously, deliriously
and how grateful, how
