If I didn't

If I didn't have you
I would be lost
I am lost
but at least I'm not alone
for in the darkness, left uncovered
lay my hands in outreaching symmetry
And I'm not sure how it happened
I'm not sure how you found me
scattered there as I was... forgotten
but you found me just the same
Your smile could save the hearts of millions
Your laughter could drown the world
and in your presence I could lose myself
and believe that I have found
the one true person I could count on
the one to never bring me down
I don't deserve to be held so high
even lost with you I'm found
Only with our eyes closed can we truly see

  • "Your smile could save the hearts of millions" - that has to be one of the most sweetest things one could say to their lady love! :) A lovely poem, nailz! Don't let her slip through your fingers, my friend! :)

Thank you so much ladies. I feel even though I am stuck in a hard place there are some things that I know and I felt the need to express them.

There's no money in poetry, however good it is. Why steal something that isn't lucrative? :)

well, this has left me speechless.....it's very powerful, and it sounds like she's given you hope of and images of hope and feelings of hope and it sounds like you're closer to hope.....which is a long way to travel from despair......I'm very pleased.....

In all honesty I usually post my poems on the internet because I want people I know to read them, but I am too scared to show them directly.

Those people will probably never see my poems here, but I still find it interesting to see what kind of response I get. What do my words mean to other people?

Look how many times Pearl Jam lyrics are copied on the internet - words like mine. I'm glad the boys decided to share them with us.

If someone else pretended they had written my poems, I'm not sure if I'd be upset or flattered more. There are times when I wish I had written some Pearl Jam lyrics or other poems because the words ring so true to me.

I am very pleased and delighted that you all liked my poem...that means alot to me. This is probably the most true to myself and my thoughts I have ever been in a writing, and yes I did send the poem to the lady that its about....my best friend and more....even though I was terrified to do so.

I am just honored that I can share in the presence of such amazing poets such as yourselfs.
