Thinking Back

Her brown hair glistened in the rain
it was late
and the champagne sky poured down
upon her tanned skin
the bumps of the goose arose
and layed upon her
upon the satin, upon the silk
as the moon rose up
and in that instant shone brighter
than the likes of which I had ever seen
her bare shoulders naked in the moonlight
and her hair draped down
long and wavy
soft and soaked by the world..
she looked at me and smiled,
she always smiled her smile
How I wanted to touch her being
and to lift her up
high
amongst the moon that shone upon her
amongst the stars
to caress her every magnificence
on the outside and in
but alas, her beauty was not mine
to cherish and explore
he couldn't see it for what it truly was
but I could, it was clear as that night
It was almost as if the moon had made her more stunning
as if that were possible...
I look now at the time gone by
and I realize
I realize what is perfectly clear
what was always perfectly clear
for she will always be the one
smiling in the champagne moonlight
as transparent as the sky
and as constant as the sun
like my feelings for her
will always be
have always been..
Only with our eyes closed can we truly see

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This is truly beautiful....
Throughout the course of our lives,we will meet many great people. Friends, family, strangers who somehow cross your path and enemies; they all have something to teach you. Some will leave deep footprints and others will not. Just be sure to wipe your feet before you step into someone's heart.

Thank you very much ISN & Aphrodite....I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wrote this piece at 2 in the morning as I was thinking back to a particular point in time...one rainy summer night, about a very special woman who has never felt the warmth of my touch or the true openess of my heart. Felicity, I'm sure you are someone's Champagne moonlight woman...you probably just don't know it yet....they probably have their true feelings for you hidden....just as I have done.

Your poem kinda made me think of Black. I love it, nailz! Great schtuff! :)

"In somebody else's sky, but why can't it be mine"

I didn't really intend the poem to be sad in any way...as I think black kind of is. This person will always be a part of my life and the only thing I want for her now and always is to be happy. That would make me happiest of all.

For a chance to let her see
    through my eyes
    toward my soul
I'll cast my friendship at her feet
    My heart hidden underneath

wow nailz, that was so beautiful. Makes me think of my past as well. always wondering, what if? Things happen for a reason, even if it means just to hold onto the friendship.
Thank you for those beautiful words nailz.

Thanks PJfaninmaine. I just wish I knew the path I was destined to take. That reason you mention is exactly what I am trying to find out.

I walked through the valley of your heart
to view a piece of your soul.
It was lonely and lost and out of control.
I stepped through the doorway of your mind
to study the avalanche of your tears.
But I was forgotten there, like too many years...
    Gone by.
I swam through the sea that was your desire
and saw that you did not want me.
    I am overlooked.
    A blackened memory.
    Like a hidden tattoo...
I am concealed behind your guilt
    and smothered beneath your fear.
    I am what once was
and I am what can never be.
I was your first and only
You are my last and lonely.
There is no scenic view from here...
only the broken ornament that was
    a ring
    the shattered promise that was
    a dream
    And my words...
Falling like a pile of leaves
    at your feet.
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

That is a really beautiful poem. I definitely got goosebumps. You captured the feeling of unrequited love very well, and it made me wish that someone would think of me that way...

Thank you innersense. Maybe someone does think of you that way and you just don't know it. Maybe its someone you never considered....one who sits back in the darkness just so he can save all the light for you.
