I thought I saw you on the TV
But it was just a mere reflection
of someone you'll never be...

  • Hidden in your guise, merely for protection
However long you fight this, I still know who you are
You spent thoughs nights dreaming of this day
Looking at the screen, you are just a phoney star...
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason.

    in another time,
    the tv was ghostly,
    much like your pale face,
and the ghosts were ever present..

such are the feelings of black and white and grey,
    no color does you well
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
  • I saw you with Professor Hans
    getting interviewed.
Hans wasn't high among your fans:
    He came off rather rude.
"Vatt ees all disss rock and roll?
I hate eeet! Much too loud!"
You smiled back, quite in cool control.
The rock star, calm and proud.

    Those were days of black and white;
    Three channels on the telly.
After that, you took your flight
    from music, grew a belly,
Shaved your head and settled down
    To live as back-to-basics.
If only Doctor Hans had known
    You much prefer the Classics.
