No one can touch the lizard king!!!!!!! He Morrison is one of the best and although he I loved him with the doors, I think his true calling was poetry. Fucking amazing stuff man.
If you dig Morrison, you have to read perhaps the best (it is the best) biography on him. Its called "No one here gets out alive" Discovered him and his words when I was around 14, its been a ride since then.

I prefer Morrison written words to his music. A brilliant musician and the band certainly left there mark in music history and few can deny that but his poetry and stories are amazing. Anyone who is a Doors fan and never reads Morrison other works...needs to invest in his books and the few really good books there are about him. One of my other favorite books other than those you mentioned are Wild Child...it really leave you questioning exactly what happend to Morrison the night he died..much the same as we will never know the true answers to Cobains murder...sorry death.

Here is one of my favorite poems
    An American Prayer

    Let's reinvent the gods,
all the myths of the ages
    Celebrate symbols from
    deep elder forrests
    (Have you forgotten the lessons
    of the ancient war)
    We need great golden copulations
    The fathers are cackling
    in trees of the forrest
Our mothers dead in the sea
Do you know we are being led to slaughters by placid admirals
& that fat slow generals are getting obscene on young blood
Do you know we are ruled by T.V.
The moon is a dry blood beast
Guerilla bands are rolling numbers in the next block of green vine amassing for warfare on innocent herdsmen
    who are just dying
    O great creator of being
    grant us one more hour
    to perform our art
    & perfect our lives
    -James Douglas Morrison-
Throughout the course of our lives,we will meet many great people. Friends, family, strangers who somehow cross your path and enemies; they all have something to teach you. Some will leave deep footprints and others will not. Just be sure to wipe your feet before you step into someone's heart.
  • I would recommend Morrison's " The American Night". It was some stuff from when he was in Paris. Some of it is in his own hand writing,,,, VERY COOL!
