Mark Tully is a multilingual "Anglo-Indian" correspondent (i.e., he descends from British "genteel colonialist" stock in India but as an empathetic person stayed close to people across sectarian, caste and ideological divides in a most unpatronising way - even in the view of Aijaz Ahmad, difficult to please - for these decades). He worked for the BBC World Service for decades, until he felt ousted by Foreign Office intervention. He then chose to work freelance.

it's worth getting distracted by some of those most popular Tully hits, sometime.
