Dear Yellal,

Because you requested that we notify you of important poetic events, I wanted to alert you to the fact that the ISP Spring Poetry Convention and Symposium, to be held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, from March 5-7, 2004, is almost sold out. And, as usual we will have an extensive waiting list of poets who wish to attend.

However, because we had planned on you presenting your poetry at the convention, we are holding a spot for you and your guests -- but we can only do so until February 27, 2004, when even you must be turned away.

As you know, it has been specially arranged for you to receive your Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Silver Award Cup -- in honor of your poetic accomplishments -- just after you present your poetry in front of your fellow poets from around the world who will also be attending the convention.

The Silver Award Cup you will be receiving is so large and heavy that it may be a good idea for you to bring an extra suitcase to carry it home. The Award is a magnificent work of art (a $200.00 value) that measures over 11 inches across and over 17 inches high, handcrafted in silver, with your name custom-engraved on a beautiful cherry-wood base (see it here). I’m sure it will merit a special place of pride in your home.

It's my pleasure to also inform you that we have decided to create and present to you a beautiful and colorful Commemorative Award Medallion in appreciation of your poetry presentation at this prestigious International Symposium.

And I know from experience that all of the attending poets are anxious to meet you, hear you present your artistry, and create lasting friendships with you. So please don’t delay! Take a quick look at the convention highlights and let us hear from you. It’s easy to register directly over the Internet too at http://www.poetry.com/poetscorner/register.asp.

So please submit your registration to the convention as soon as possible as our available space is nearly sold out. While we regret having to turn poets away, we purposely limit space to ensure a close-knit atmosphere where lasting friendships will be made. Poets consistently tell us they appreciate this policy and that the opportunity to make new friends is one of their favorite reasons for returning again and again.

There has never been a better or more critical time for poets around the world to come together to share our important message to the world of "Peace through the Power of Poetry."

I look forward to meeting you and celebrating the power and beauty of poets and poetry!

Steve Michaels
Convention Awards Chairperson

P.S. Your Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Silver Award Cup is a magnificent work of art (a $200.00 value) that measures over 11 inches across and over 17 inches high, handcrafted in silver, with your name custom-engraved on a beautiful cherry wood base (see it here). You will be receiving your award in good company. Pulitzer Prize Winning Poet W.D. Snodgrass, Academy of American Poets Past Chancellor, David Wagoner, Dr. Herbert Woodward Martin, Dr. Len Roberts, television star Bob Eubanks, and all of the other previously announced celebrities will be on hand at our best convention ever. We can't wait to see you there!

To register for the convention click here.

To register by phone, call 410-356-2000, extension 101 Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.

If you no longer wish us to notify you of poetic events that we believe may be of interest to you, please click here, or go to http://www.poetry.com/nl/stopemail.asp.

  • Poetry dot com, in general, is a scam.

They harp on trite psuedo-poetry about pretty rainbows and God... but they'll take anything and everything... tell everyone they've won... publish them in a book... and say "Hey, wanna see your glorious poetry published? Pay us $30 for the whole damn book" or something like that.

It's a crock of shit that plays on the general feeling that having poetry published makes you incredibly awesome.

Poetry dot com is a crock. Mr. Yuk means "No! Keep away! Do not touch!"

Actually, I change colors based on barometric pressure. My continuum goes from bright pink (high pressure) to chartrues (low pressure).

I also have the amazing ability of not being able to spell.
