i was talking to a group of colors yesterday
and the colors speak in rainbows
and it's hard to separate one from the other
and so sometimes, the words come out brown
black says "lay down bitch"
blue says "you can get up later"
green says "no, you should probably get up now"
yellow says "just think of all the things you could do"
orange says "oh, holy wow... yeah! okay" and crunches her abs
red says, "come on, do you really want to do this? it's not going to be easy!"
chartreuse says, "i think i'm going to be sick"
tangerine says, "take a Tums, you'll be fine"
and red quipps in, saying "i broke my fucking baseball bat over some asswad's head yesterday... yeah... he's dead and all, but, where am I going to get a new bat?"
and i lie in bed, teetering on the options, high-centered on the snow drift of my discontent, thinking how on Earth am I ever going to live like this? swirling in the bowl, swimming against the current of life's continual flush... i'm too big to go down the hole.
