Roadkill

The blak cat sat,
in the middle of the road,
with only the streetlights,
and me.

I could hear God, as
he/she spoke "It is
not safe for you to
be jaywalking." I said.

She licked her paw,
and gave herself a bath.
She blinked once, as
she had been there before.

On the sidewalk,
I sat and watched.
The headlights, of the
ghost rider, bearing down.

From under the tires,
she emerged, to "nick" time.
Turning white...
(Don't cross me)

The sirens from the skies above,
sang of the tales of Salem, and
now I walk with a shovel.

  • That one was a true story, well sort of.
I was in Buffalo, n.y. this summer visiting family.
I was sitting on the curb, at my cousins, late at night,
and it just sort of happened.
    (but that was that one)
