I just figured some might be interested in this. I'm a photography student at Ryerson U in Toronto. For a portfolio class we had to choose one image, that we replicated so everyone in the class had an original copy of a photograph from everyone in the class. I chose to use an image I shot at the PJ show in Toronto this past tour. Anyways, they put the portfolio online as well, so if anyone wants to see the photo and the write up about it, check it out. Let me know what you think.

Being someone who dabbles with the old camera way too often....I like the picture and the write up too.
You've changed your place in this world!
  • Thanks for sharing that Lindsay. It's so cool that PJ inspired ya and that although your first attempt at photos didn't go so well, you got to go back and give it your all again! Keep up the good work!

  • I shoulda started work on my thesis project 3 months ago, but being a procrastinator, as still haven't begun work. Now, I think I may even change my topic, as I've found in my four years here I've started to conform to what my profs would like to see. So, rather than doing something that my heart really isn't into, I've decided that I may make it PJ related. It's basically open to anything, we just have to come up with about 30 different images. So, I decided that I may come up with about 30 different CD covers for what would be singles of Pearl Jam songs. Some that have been released as singles, and others that are just meaningful to me, but have never been officially released. One side would be an image that I find to be representative of my interpretation of the song, and the back would be the lyrics, so that others could read the lyrics and understand how the image is related.

They would all be printed as simple double sided cd covers, similar to say the Save You or Love Boat Captain singles. ie. just the one image, no other packaging. The 30 jewel cases would then be presented in a cd rack, as one would house in their bedroom and I'd probably even set up a cd player with a cd of the songs and headphones, so that people could listen to the songs as well.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas of songs that might lend well to this sort of thing. While I obviously have some image ideas of my own... 30 is a lot to come up with without input from others. And this would be the best place to get that sort of input. So let me know what you think! Any suggestions on presentation, song interpretations or image ideas would be greatly appreciated!

And thanks for the comments on the previous image. The reproduction on the web page is no where near the quality of the photo itself, which is a little disappointing, but you get the basic idea.

    great pic :D

do you have more of the show??
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
    That is why I'm singing
