Nightfire

Sparks erupted in thunder within a hundred yards of us
sporadic at first, two or three at a time, but once
they’d gotten a lock on, fields of flame white
flowers coated the midnight landscape
It’s inextricable beauty, the spell it cast on the evening
was broken only by the screams of torment, and short
gurgling gasps of death which accompanied the
explosive bloom
We heard the muffled shells leaving the broken smile
of artillery pieces, a deadly semi-circle around our base
and then the loud hissing sound, of metal twirling through
the air, like high notes through an opera’s crescendo

I do like this poetic hellfire.
    It's almost playful and romantic!

Wow. That was a powerful poem.
  • Ah, thankyou both, I'm not quite sure if I want to do something to this or just leave it alone, it's been sitting around untouched for a couple years

Well, it's just my opinion, but I think you should leave it just how it is.
