who are the people
in these urban trenches
alone, sad and afraid
hiding for the violence
in this war called love

aware of the dangers
and taking risks
by exposing themselves
to those who can hurt them
in ways no bullet can

the idea was more towards getting hurt in relationships (not violence in the streets / robbery) and how it's hard to be open to new experiences if you've been hurt before (being in the trenches), but lyrics are open to interpretation. Glad to hear it did something to someone :)
