In the City

You were the greatest inspiration of my life
A shining star that beaconed all hopes of love
The reason I am dying
The reason I survive
There was no center in my affliction
Just a narrow lack of reason that swallowed my greatest pride
I'd been wandering in the glimmering streets at night
Guided by the neon lights from the billboard signs
And a hunger that made me walk the greatest lenght of my life
For two long weeks I hadn't seen your face
For two long weeks I realized my mistakes
It was near the ending years and the lights began to fade
I knew then I'd be headed home after I'd gone this far
I wanted to change the world
I wanted to be free
I wanted to change the world and the way they see
But how would I manage?
How would I ever pull through?
I wanted to move your eyes, to make you feel
Surround your sense of life and stir your sex-appeal
But where was our moment of reason?
And how would we ever move on?
It was in this city that this took place
And in this city I want to live
And I really want to be convinced
That we're all the same
That we all feel shame
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.

You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»

no prob, just curious as to what you think it means. the thing is (and I'm being honest here) I'd been going through some situations with my father at one point and my girlfriend blew me off. i wrote this sometime a year ago. the weird thing is, i don't know what i'm talking about anymore. strange, huh?
