Not a very big song, but it's a singalong of sorts

If you've read Far From The Madding crowd you'll know about the characters in this song. I don't usually get all allusive in songs - only in wanky poetry - but I wanted to sing about love and thought a book a lot of British students have to read at some point or other would be a fun way of going about it.

Read the novel if you haven't. It's beautiful.

Anyway, here's the song. No great lyric, but I'll record the music too, for you.

Remember how Gabriel Oak looked up at the stars?
Each was more than the smoke and the scars
Of the big, big, big, bang:
Every one shone with a knowledge much brighter than man.

Remember Bathsheba, and how she saw Troy?
Silver buttons that made love a toy
With a big, big, big bang?
A bang and blast bloodied their shine, and made dust of the man.

Oh, how the shiny, shiny fires call our name!
They know we don’t want the slow burn, we want the explosion, we’re moths to a radiant flame …

Oh, how the shiny, shiny fires call our name!
They know we don’t want the slow burn, we want the explosion, we’re moths to a radiant flame …

I remember the tale day to day, and I keep my head bowed.
My whisper can feel twice as loud
As a big, big, big bang:
I can burn longer slower and be an unending
I can burn longer slower and be an unending
I can burn longer slower and be an unending
I can burn longer slower and be an unending
of man.
