New song: "Begging Bowl"

It's been recorded here at home, but not to my satisfaction (although it's to be found in the usual places on myspace, in rugged form). I only wrote it today. Sure, the words could be deeper, but sometimes you follow the sound and feel for the word that goes best with the note and riddim (dah riddim being Buddy Holly-ish):

They’re mapping the brain, mapping the brain
Just the same as when Ptolemy mapped the skyline:
The arrogant fools say we don’t have to guess any more,
Why these lights of the starry crown?

They’re plugging us in, plugging us in
Just the same as when Industry plugged the daytime:
Web-smog is God, it’s money galore,
Who cares if the dullness has grown?

And hey, hey, now, they’re joining the dots
‘til they blind like a gauze
They’re blocking the lights right out of the sky
Through obsession with reason and cause

They’re spinning us ‘round, spinning us ‘round
And we’re torn on the wheel of a starless sundown
That’s why I’m turning my begging bowl
upside down

(solo)

And hey, hey, now, they’re joining the dots
‘til they blind like a gauze
They’re blocking the lights right out of the sky
Through obsession with reason and cause

They’re spinning us ‘round, spinning us ‘round
And we’re torn on the wheel of a starless sundown
That’s why I’m turning my begging bowl upside down
That’s why I’m turning my begging bowl upside down
That’s why I’m turning my begging bowl upside down.

I have to be honest. I'm sure it sounds cool. Not your best, though.

It's a singalong. Live audiences are usually too thick and stupid to digest words of over one syllable, so I thought I'd make this one more direct.

Not in the States, though. You're a more cultured lot. :)

Thanks, I am hearing it now. You should be pleased, I've put 'After the Gold rush' on pause to hear you play.

Is no problem, I'm liking what I hear. Do you have demos available? I'd be happy to shell out for a good cause. Also, do you ever gig away from the capital,..like in Wales?

If I got (paid) offers to play wales, I would!

I could email you free demos. I won't charge. I've made up CDs in the past, but as I'm going up to Doncaster to record, imminently, I'm happy to give away what I've done so far.
