If I could write a song just like

Big-Eyed Beans From Venus
I'd ride a liquid motorbike
and take an intravenous
hit from desert snail juice
from oases where the gloam
gleams glimmering like spirit pus
where septic angels roam

    Haha, I've no idea what I'm talking about either. But TS Eliot said "Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood", so I'm going to write any old shite in pursuit of "genuine poetry". :D

    To me, it's about getting famous and being able to travel and party and have sex and be warm and be clean and pure in doing so.

    Cool. I have to get into Beefheart yet. I just started with Zappa.
    Can you recommend any Beefheart, or Zappa for that matter?

    Ummm, with Beefheart, I'd start with Safe As Milk, then The Mirror Man Sessions, then you're ready for Trout Mask Replica.

    With Zappa, I started with Hot Rats.

    But I take it you think it's a little hearder to get into.

    Oh by the way, Motorpsycho a Norwegian band, are big fans of Beefheart. The actually stole some of his title's just because they were too good not to.
    But they are a really cool band. I'd start with Trust us. (recognize the title?)

    Yes, Beefheart's Trust Us is on The Mirror Man Sessions album.

    Trout Mask Replica is a shock if you're not used to avant garde music. Even fans of Ornette Coleman's album "Free Jazz" might get a jolt from it.

    i remember that dude. don van vliet. as a kid, it was hard to get into his experimental music. zappa, on the other hand, was more accessible what with his clowning about the beatles and other icons.
