i see the intermediates everywhere i look
they're down at the pub knocking back suds
they crawl like that first fish out onto the land
then devolve back into degenerate ape men

we should not expect too much from them i 'spose
cause afterall they came from slippery lizards possibly toads
who don't know no better, you know?
though if they were fish they'd be as modern as us

a genetic mutation or evolutionary process
i'm not really sure what any of that means
the fish is a reptile, the reptile a mammal
all that i know is i've got a tail.
