'Tis all in good fun. No doubt someone will say, why wasn't the freedom-poetry of imprisoned three-legged dissident Shagyerwifeski Kaplinkenplonken included in that quiz? But then, we'd have to guess the answers:

Q In 1956, what was the name of Kaplinkenplonken's epic fifty-eight volume poetic indictment of the Loduvshyte invasion of Ninconpoopula?

1 Ah Just Pass The Jay This Way, an' Dig Duh Crazy Beat

2 Mein Underpantz - A Parable, For Change

3 The Life and Times of Lady Clamydia Scrote

Betjeman rules! I discovered him through my reading of Larkin--Larkin talked about him alot. Look up Betjeman's "Senex"--you don't get much better than that!

I got 9 out of 10, btw. Didn't know the one about The Scaffold.

He's probably Britain's most popular poet of the twentieth century. He's often dismissed as light, populist, and as a rhymster, but I like his work.

Mike McCartney (Paul's brother) was also in the band. His pseudonym was Mike McGear.

It's surprising how few American's know of Betjeman. I had to order his Collected from Amazon, it's not in any bookstores. Does he even have an American publisher? I had never heard of the publisher, and the price was only listed in pounds.

I don't think he's overly light. Hell, half his poems are about churches. How light can that be?

And I didn't even know Macca had a brother. And I color myself a Beatles fan, too.

McGough on the left, John Gorman in the middle, and Mike McCartney/McGear on the right.

When Gorman left, the other two did an album called "McGough and McGear". Hendrix played on two tracks, "Ex-Art Student", and "So Much."

My connection is much too slow to productively take part in YouTube, I'm afraid. :(
