Three black starlings
chomp red berries, brimming
on a green birch tree

and the boughs bob high
and the boughs bob low
and the boughs bow slow

though no wind blows
and winter blossom pinks
shoot an early glow.

It's just December, now.
Three starlings wait.
What for? Do you know?
