Hitchhiker

I didn't know hitchhiking was illegal
So I picked him up.
There he stood
Right thumb out
ripped jeans and flannel.
How harmful could he be?
He entered my car,
passenger side
spoke in a meek voice
and I said
"Where ya goin?"
And he just answered,
"Down the road a mile..."
So I took him there.
Got out,
whispered goodbye.

He was my Hitchhiker.
A whisper and a thrill

    it reminds me of Steinbeck....the beginning of East of Eden.....which I nivvir finished......I was surprised by its simplicity.....it's probably one of the best of your peoms that I've ever read.......:).....more like that one, I'd love to read......
    ....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

    i feel the first line rules ..... governs everything that follows .....
    and i guess the "my" in the last line sums it all up .....
    like it ....
