Ok here goes... When Iread MsNelly's question the other
night I was at work on lunch break and I started
laughing so hard I was crying, which my co-workers
are quite used to, cause all the PJ People on these
boards make me laugh all the time.. But I think what
made me laugh so hard that I was like YAY!!! I'm not
the only freak that wondered what he smells like!!!

When I was born, thanks to mother's various drug addictions,
Ihadlotsof health issues, including, but not limited to, the
fact that my right optic Berber never finished
Developing, do I had this crazy eye that just lolled about,
cause it got no reception, so it just rolled around trying
to find something focus on.. But because it was 1973, they
didn't have the technology they do today, so the doctor
Judy assumed it was a lazy eye. He put a patch over my left
eye, which is the only eye I can see out of, to force the right
eye to develop strength and correct itself. But with
no functioning optic nerve, there was and still is NO SIGHT!!!
Nothing, not shadows or blackness, nothing at all.
That coupled with a horrendous build up of fluids behind
both eardrums left me unable to hear as well.
So I spent the first three years of my life like Hellen
Keller, forcing me to learn to identify people around me
by their signature smells, I still do this to this day!

Ok so I had two experiences which allowed me to
Memorize Ed's signature scent. The first happened in
1995 or six can't remember, but it was at the San Diego
Sports arena, they were the " make- up shows for the
previously cancelled Del Mar Fair shows. The Ramones
opened for them which was cometely astounding, because
I'd grown up on those guys so to get to see them AND my
favorite band was a beautiful thing for me! And two
nights in a row to boot!!

Ok, so let me just say Ihave NEVER been lucky enough
to meet him or touch him, but Ihave gotten the
absolute pleasure of smelling him! Here's what happened
in incident one! Like I said it was two nights, and both
nights I sat outside for HOURS so I could get up front.
And I did, right on the frontrail, in between Ed and Stone
the first night, and right dead center night2. On night two
Ed came out wearing tons of these shirts, different ones, one
over top of the other. Throughout the show, he'd strip off
one of the shirts, mop his face and neck with it and the chuck
it out to various parts of the crowd. By the time he got down to
the last layers to his OWN shirt, the shirts were drenched in sweat.
I got the last one!! I'd been trying to catch various shirts all night
as people taller than me snatched them up. He HANDED me my shirt.
That was the third time I'd had him stare straight into my eyes, and
again it freaked me out cause it's very intense when he looks at you like
that. I had to shove the shirt into my shorts to keep the chickies in
Either side of me from ripping it away. But when I got home
that night I spent a good few hours smelling it, there was another
person's smell in there too, do I am guessing it had been a shirt thrown
onstage to him at some point. I even slept with it for two nights before
I finally washed it.

So incident two happened just a few years back when
I went to see them at Bonnaroo. During the show Crazy Mary
to be exact, he jumps down and comes out to see
us, shake a few people's hands, before security herded
Him back onto the stage. But just as they did so he was
RIGHT in front of my face!!! Less than ten feet away!! So
I kinda leaned out from the rail and smelled him.. Which
got this really weird look from him, and the security guy who
put his out to stop me from getting any closer, and he told
me to back up. But Ed looked like " did you just SMELL me????"
Kind of embarrassing really!!

But it was th weirdest thing!! Suddenly, like
INSTANTANEOUSLY I KNEW which was his smell
from that old shirt!! Which was stolen many years
back when our house was broken into while we
were on vacation. He smells like cigarettes if course,
but that funky nicotine smell comes off clean and
musky on him, like burning Oak and Pine in a campfire!
Which incidentally is one of my very favorite smells
second only to the smell of horses after a long ride!
I should NOT have told you that sorry!! I know I'm a weirdo!!
Anyhow his breath smells like wine and cigarettes, that true
Cig smoke smell, and candy, so he must have eaten something
sweet at some point in his day. But he himself
Also has this sweet salty scent, almost like salt water
taffy, but thicker, heavier.. Which tells me it's not a cologne
or secondary scent if such nature. I also found what reminded
me so deeply of that shirt, was his super strong
testosterone drenched base scent.. He's got to be one
Of those people who HAS to shower, because this was the
dominating scent! Which makes me just want to lick him!!
Ok shouldn't have told you that either! But all that together
makes him smell very delicious!! I could also smell a nice
lilting perfume on him, which makes me think he was hanging
with his girl prior to the show, if this gone case Jill smells
Really nice too and has delectable taste in perfume!

He's unreachable for the most of us...! No need to be worried about it! ;-) You're surely right... your perception is your very personal experience, no-one can change it, no confutation, but I can tell you your stories open a few new doors to my fantasy :-D

That is a crazy story!!!! But a good one. Thank you for taking the time to type all that out. Being nearly blind and deaf has to be one of the most intensely difficult things to have to deal with...and to come out of it able to enjoy music again with a crazy sense of smell is, well, it's movie-quality stuff there lady!

Three more weeks until I am 8 feet away! I'm going to have to make sure I take my allergy pill now
