He was gorgeous in 2000 (as he is now) but I can't look at those photos without seeing the emotions that are behind those sweet smiles. And although he was much happier in 2004, with his wife and daughter, those pics at Johnny Ramone's funeral really break my heart. You can see he is trying so hard to hold it together, but you can also see his heart breaking. When I see those, I have to zip right past them because I know that pain. I just want to somehow take it away, and then the tears flow . . . .

I have often wondered myself why, knowing that it was a very tough time for him, do I love that era so much? I guess if things hadn't turned around for him I wouldn't prefer the 2000 time period. He is so intensely emotional. This is why I love that time. You can see his troubled heart in his expression. I just want to say, "it's ok. You are going to get a second chance. You'll be happy again." It's the same way I feel when I listen to ukelele songs. He's so heart broken for much of it and them discovers something new and beautiful. The promise of the future is why I love 2000. But...

Thanks whispering hands. The fire is 3/4 contained, but the winds are strong here today and it is getting warmer, so they are still watching closely. The friends in the fire zone were sent back home, but were told to remain on pre-evac alert for now. Strangely there was a grass fire even closer yesterday. And I'm sorry to be an emotional mess. . .
