    There has been speculation, just because of the timeline, that he hurt it at the Cubs training camp thing that he goes to every year. I think it would be a recent injury... while nerve damage from back injuries is unpredictable and can come on some time after the initial injury, it doesn't tend to be cumulative. It would normally be a one-time injury, and the nerve issues might present a couple weeks or maybe months after, but not 6 years. :) So I think he did it this winter sometime, either at baseball camp or surfing or something, or maybe ax throwing? ... For the record, I don't think Ed needs to calm down on stage any more; he's already chilled it out as he's gotten older to the point where if he does any less he will just be standing there like a tree! ;-)
