Yep, he's referring to Howard Zinn. Eddie has talked about Zinn during some concerts..can't remember which ones, tho.

Oftentimes in Boston, as Zinn is well known there. (PJ never plays a bad show in MA or Boston proper, so check out any of those boots and you wont be disappointed)
Boston 2010 they played Undone which is a Zinn tribute, and Ed spoke briefly about him prior to the song. Im sure they spoke of him at the Vote For Change shows in Boston in 2004, but sadly there are no official boots of those shows - Check out gremmie.net / gremmies basement to stream audience recordings of those shows.
Check out twofeetthick.com for some great nuggets of info too - show write ups and all sorts of great stuff.

Speaking of youtube, I know this is a picture-thread, but if you ladies ever want to watch Eddie for 45 minutes, walking around in his surfer outfit while at the same time saying wise, humble and witty things etc etc, you might want to watch Iconoclasts with Eddie Vedder and Laird Hamilton on youtube (the whole show!)... but ONLY if you like Eddie without much clothes on and if you like listening to his golden speaking voice, of course...

I saw that the other week, its amazing!!!! Eddie looks amazing! Its funny how Laird says materialistic and silly things, then Eddie opens his gorgeous mouth to say deep and meaningful things, and Laird just stares at him without much to say back!!
