i.
I met evil the other day,
and lived.
His face looked like mine.
He offered me an apple,
and I bit into it.
I choked immediatly.He said,
"You don't like my gift for you?"
I said,
"No-Never return to me again."
He screamed, and cursed, and hollared-
took out a knife and held it to my throat.
He said,
"You will kill,
you will cheat,
you will lie."
And I just walked away.

ii.
I MET EVIL

FACE EXECUTING DEATH,
MURDER.
SUFFOCATING OVERTONES.
GLUTTONY,OBESITY,WANTONNESS.
HATRED SCORNING THROUGH THE YEARS
OF AGE WRITTEN ALL OVER
THE FACE OF THE BEAST.
AN EXECUTION IN AMERICA-
A RAPE IN A BACKSEAT-
A FAMINE IN THE COUNTRY.

Cliche but true..if you've been through it.
I could talk about drunk encounters with mafia hit men, but that would be boring.....

what is a boogie board?? (my english is very primitive) I got my board from a brazilian shaper in Portugal, he took my old 7"3 and sold to me for 170€ about 150$, 1/3 of what it costs in Europe..., it's an 8", and it's perfect for looooong waves you catch far away from the shore, the ones i love. But he's actually specialised in short boards, the guy is 45 and surfs with a 5"4! He's good, he sends boards to england, germany, etc he ships them by plane!
A "boogie Board" is a short board...maybe 3' or so in length and you ride the wave on your chest and torso. Its pretty cool.Look it up on http://www.Google.com
and they should show you some pictures.Theyre relatively cheap.
And y6ou SHOULD write ME a poem about a wave!...I would love to hear it!

    I'd say,

    you make a perfect

The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.

I think I met evil. It was in my room, I was trying to sleep and I'm sure it was there. I was shaking strangely and I had to get up. I thought I was going to be crushed. Was a very strange experience.

I thought to myself, how crazy would it be if someone met me and knew my Pearl Jam message board alter ego and didn't even tell me...

    and Ali,

for a poem like this to work, for a poem that prepares the reader to face an abstraction, it has to be grounded in the most concrete of images, the most relatable of metaphors. Starting the poem, indeed making the title an abstraction already puts the reader in a single degree of seperation, but when you continue to describe abstractions with more abstraction and biblical references the point becomes more obscure and much less human, show us the face of evil, the actions the affect the people and objects we see and feel, a tsunami is bad, we know this, like war is bad, what does a tsunami victim look and feel like, what if the victim was a vacationing uncle. I know because I spent years being rebuffed for concentrating on abstraction because I thought the big picture was the only picture worth painting, but you have to strike a balance to be truly effective.

I hope this helps, and it wouldn't be too bad if the next I met evil thread did actually describe our first encounter.

Every surfer has a wave that tracks him all around the world. That wave is not good, and it's not evil, it's a intense fast and long one, it's danger, joy, and destiny, it's yourself. You can avoid it if you don't feel ready to surf it. But it stays in your mind, you keep waiting for it, and it will allways find you. Surf it when you feel ready. Devil is something like that.
To surf the earth-as in not water waves- is that a ride on the highway? There is freedom in a car on the highway, and I don't see how it ends except to get off. Even the dangers that could happen are disregarded in the face of so much freedom. I couldn't even think where the devil could be on the highway when thinking of the highway. In fact, when I think of the highway I don't use my time thinking of the devil. When you describe the devil in your last line it seems a lot like a tarot card version (devil backwards is lived.)

    Thanks!

My take on the devil is so cliche.
Best described and depicted in a National Geographic Magazine sitting around in an unsacred ceremony by a fire. Its all fire with that Devil.Fire and forbidden fruit.(Maybe I life a boring life!)

Unfortunately, I don't spend much time in the waves. There is some of what you wrote that I can not understand because of this.

I'm talking about real surf, it's not an image. It can mean much more than just sport, can be a close relation with the sea, fascination about it's power and beauty, and the feeling that right there, there is experience you must go through, as an important step in your life. In that case we all have in mind the wave, the ONE we keep avoiding, cause it's too big, or too fast or too hollow whatever, and the danger may be pretty real. That one wave tells you "you can't, get back...or maybe you can...try... but if you fail...on the other hand if you don't try...take a bite..." and sets up a limit that you just cannot accept!!! Until you feel ready...and surf it (not the first time....), then it's pure JOY!! Can't explain that! Then another ONE wave appears...It's all about freedom, and it's love story too.
Tchaliz is going to take me surfing with him...right t?

    I met Evil,
He stood in the corner of my room as I slept,
    Cracking my eyelids from unrest,
    I couldn't see him,
but I could see the juice box
from lunch the prior day and hadn't drank...
floating in mid air across my room.

He set it on the counter,
And asked me if I knew who he was.

I replied with a silent scream,
as I sat up in my bed.

And just as he hadn't appeared,
    he left.

I don't know what it meant.

    Now thats an exorcist devil.

    I saw evil in a murder's hand.
    Blood splilling from beneath him.
    His eyes were like fire.
    His breath was a flame.
    I swear, I didn't know his name.
