Waiting

I stood and I waited
I waited and I watched...
The waves came in
The waves came out
Venturing toward the Coastline
of the New Jersey shore
People everywhere
And not one of them mine.
Many friends churn the tides
As one watches with anticipation
But the Moon is the one that pays the price in the end.
It only has a few hours to shine its precious light.
A whisper and a thrill
A whisper and a chill

Ali, I told someone I wasn’t going to post anymore, but damn if I don’t have a big mouth, break some promises, and feel very moved by your palatable sincerity. If there is a reason to break a promise, it’s someone like you.

Last night I stood in my driveway. There were trees behind me and the wind was blowing through them, soft warm heat of summer air, just fabulous. The stars were over my head, so many, and there was this cloud that looked like a brush stroke of white on a black canvas. White lightening flashed beyond the trees, lighting up even more of the sky. I wasn’t waiting for anything, just there and thinking oh man, this is it.

Then I came inside and tried to write about it. It was the weirdest thing because as soon as I turned on the light in front of the computer it was gone. It’s strange how that works, the “this is not a pipe” between life and words. Anyway, I like to wait in front of the waves too, and I am waiting to go to the beach myself just to refuel on that feeling. In the meantime I’ll keep reading your poems to get as close to it as I can.

And about the moon, the last thing I wrote in my little rambledy what the heck is the point of life thing last night was

and the moon, are old mother, smiled her sad smile and said, "Good night."
  • I love the line, "People everywhere, And not one of them mine" Man does that describe scenes I've been in. Great pome Ali!
It doesnt hurt.... when I bleed
    but memories...they eat me
    I've seen it all before,...
bring it on cause I'm no victim.

    Pearlmutt...
Please continue to write.I enjoy your writings very much!:)Try to remember that feeling as to what happened, what you felt, what you associated that sky with.
When it comes to writing, whatever it is,you just kinda gotta let your "other side" take over. The spiritual side, the latent side, the hateful side...just pick a path and go with it.I always find myself waiting for that perfect poem,a life poem, and in this poem, the perfect"LOVE"!:)Theres an ocean full of people,
and every single one of us has one.Its all up to the cosmos.:)
Whatevr you do...don't leave me pearlmutt!!!!!I need you on this board!

    I agree, lovely poem.
Situations get fucked up and turned around sooner or later...
  • The sacred moon shines
    a path across the waters...

    Is this the path
    that one's heart must cross
to join that of their true love?

    :)

Lovely poem, Ali! It made me see a girl (you) standing there, while a rushing sea of faces washed past her. One day, that sea will part and you will see he, who is yours, smiling at you and you'll know it's true. :)

Oh, and to pearlmutt---I hate when the words escape me because I didn't have a pen and paper handy when the thoughts came flooding in!!!! So, I try to keep them handy now so that doesn't happen. Even if you just jot down the basics and come back to it when you have a chance--sometimes you can still create the feelings and thoughts you initially had, not always but I do find it can help. :)
